Welcome to Carmen Ruiz-Tilve Public School.
Our school is located in the city of Oviedo, the capital of the Principality of Asturias, in the north of Spain. It is a primary and pre-primary education center, where children aged 3 to 12 are enrolled.
The school has three educational lines in all grades, except for one primary grade which has four classes. In total, there are 9 kindergarden classrooms with 207 students and 19 primary classrooms with 455 students.
It is situated in a growing urban area, as it is a new neighborhood in Oviedo, located very close to the General Hospital of the Principality of Asturias.
In addition to the classrooms, the school has two libraries —one for kindergarden and one for primary—, a gym, a covered sports court, and a school radio station called “Onda Tilve”, where students create various podcasts and record a weekly news bulletin.
We also organize complementary activities outside the school, such as theater days, museum visits, and nature outings, helping our students connect with the world around them.
Recently, we have participated in several eTwinning projects, such as “Speared Christmas”, where we exchanged postcards with a school in Italy —a project that involved the entire school. We have also carried out other projects at different educational stages, such as “One World, One Future” and “Global Citizen Academy” in primary education, and “My Country Through the Eyes of Our Children” in kindergarden, which was recently awarded the National Quality Label.
Our students were active and enthusiastic throughout these projects. Taking part in such activities and meeting students from other countries is truly motivating for continued learning.
We are currently involved in an Erasmus+ project called “Gamify English”. We will travel, meet new people, and learn in a more engaging, creative, and motivating way. Fifth and sixth grade students will have the opportunity to exchange experiences and practice their English and digital skills with students from other countries, enriching each other’s learning. They will also have the chance to travel abroad, discover new cultures, and use English as a common language to communicate with their peers.
